Developer EQ (developereq.com) is operated by Kyle Shelton. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We keep things straightforward — no hidden tricks.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Email address — Used for authentication via Supabase magic links. This is the only personal information required to create an account.
  • Payment information — When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number on our servers.
  • AI Coach conversations — Messages you send to the AI Coach are stored to maintain your conversation history and provide continuity across sessions.
  • Exercise responses — Exercises you complete and any notes you save within the platform.
  • Reading progress — Which chapters you've read and your progress through the ebook.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data — Basic analytics such as pages visited, features used, and session duration.
  • Device and browser info — Browser type, operating system, and device type to ensure the platform works correctly.
  • IP address — Collected by our hosting infrastructure for security and rate-limiting purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Developer EQ platform
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure
  • Process subscription payments
  • Deliver AI Coach responses tailored to your conversation context
  • Track your reading and exercise progress
  • Enforce usage limits based on your subscription tier
  • Communicate with you about your account, billing, or service updates
  • Improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

Developer EQ relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Supabase (Authentication & Database)

We use Supabase for user authentication (magic link emails) and to store your account data, progress, and conversation history. Your data is stored in Supabase's cloud infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy

Stripe (Payments)

All payment processing is handled by Stripe. When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment details go directly to Stripe. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status — never your full card details. Stripe Privacy Policy

Anthropic (AI Coach)

Messages you send to the AI Coach are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Anthropic may process your messages in accordance with their usage policies. We recommend not sharing sensitive personal information in coach conversations. Anthropic Privacy Policy

Vercel (Hosting)

The platform is hosted on Vercel. Vercel automatically collects standard server logs including IP addresses and request metadata. Vercel Privacy Policy

4. Cookies

Developer EQ uses cookies for authentication session management. When you sign in with a magic link, a session cookie is set to keep you logged in. These are essential cookies required for the platform to function — we don't use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data — Retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within 30 days.
  • Conversation history — Stored as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.
  • Payment records — Retained as required by tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years for transaction records).
  • Server logs — Automatically purged by our hosting provider on their standard retention schedule.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct your data — Update or fix any inaccurate information.
  • Delete your data — Request that we delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your data — Request a portable copy of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

Developer EQ is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a notice on the platform. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
